Wednesday’s effort.

October 20, 2010

Here is the reult of today’s painting session. I painted the cattle while listening to the Spending Review, which contained some good news for Jim as he now knows he will be able to receive his State (also known as Old Age! ) Pension on his 65th birthday which has cheered him greatly! And also he will get his bus pass at 60, now all we need are some buses.

I have also been finishing off some of my UFOs ready for the UK Decorative Painter’s weekend. I will post pictures of them when they are dry and varnished in a few day’s time.

The quality of the picture might not be quite as good as the light was fading a bit when I took the photo.

Alpine cows and flowers

October 19, 2010

Here is today’s progress. Some of the flowers are painted in and cows positioned, but these both need more work tomorrow.

Tip of the day for painters.

October 18, 2010

If you are like me you have a number of UFOs (unfinished objects).

I decided to finish one of these and wasted time trying to find the instructions amongst my numerous books, so this is my tip.

If you are using a pattern,  when tracing the design note on the tracing the name of the pattern, the designer’s name and the magazine or book the design was published in.

You can then  file the tracing after use and if you need to paint the design again you will easily be able to find the painting instructions.

If it is your own design keep all the pieces together in plastic  pockets and file them. I always print out a copy as although most are on the computer it is possible to lose them.

New painting group!

October 13, 2010

I am so pleased to be sending off my membership fee to join  a totally new UK painting group that is being launched this month!

This is being formed by many experienced decorative painters who want to exchange ideas, pass on their knowledge to others and enjoy meeting like minded people of all painting abilities who derive so much pleasure from decorative painting.

It is like a breath of fresh air and will bring new life to our art form in the UK.

Thanks to everyone involved, you have all worked so hard. A big “thank you” from me!  See you all soon : )

Background coming on.

The mountain is now painted in. I used a palette knife, a brush and thick paint to give the mountain texture.

My, hasn’t the alpine forest grown today!

My progress today

Taking shape.

This is the progress so far. I think the design will evolve as I go so we will see what happens!
