My original painted saw.

August 29, 2012

I painted this saw some years ago as an experiment and it was used in a display of decorative folk art at the Artists and Illustrators exhibition at the NEC.Image

My latest saw for Paul.

August 29, 2012

The task was to create a sign for the toilets! As long as it had “toilets” and an arrow painted on it the rest of the design was up to me, so in this celebration year for the nation I decided on red white and blue for the colours and a floral design for a change.Image

The painting on the box canvas

November 20, 2010

Due to public demand, (i.e. Mike and Di)  🙂  here is a picture of my  latest completed work. It is painted on a box canvas and is a design by Vicki Nicholson especially for members of  UK Decorative Painters whose website is now online at www.ukdecorativepainters.co.uk with details of how to join the association, so if you are interested take a look.

The design has a textured background which is achieved using one of the special mediums available from the Jo Sonja range of products. It’s great fun to use and is very effective. The edges of the canvas, which unfortunately you can’t see, are sponged with iridescent paints and then crackled with a 2 step crackle medium which is easy to use and very effective.

I hope you like the snowmen.

The forum is now online and available to members which is wonderful news.

My present project is painting one of the free patterns available which is quite a change from painting saws!

I am painting this one on a box canvas.

The saws have gone.

The 3 completed saws

November 3, 2010

Here are pictures of the 3 completed saws. They just need a day or two for the varnish to cure and they will be ready to go to their new home. This is where I get nervous, I hope the customer will like them.          (Copyright Sally Stone 2010)

Wednesday’s effort.

October 20, 2010

Here is the reult of today’s painting session. I painted the cattle while listening to the Spending Review, which contained some good news for Jim as he now knows he will be able to receive his State (also known as Old Age! ) Pension on his 65th birthday which has cheered him greatly! And also he will get his bus pass at 60, now all we need are some buses.

I have also been finishing off some of my UFOs ready for the UK Decorative Painter’s weekend. I will post pictures of them when they are dry and varnished in a few day’s time.

The quality of the picture might not be quite as good as the light was fading a bit when I took the photo.

Here is today’s progress. Some of the flowers are painted in and cows positioned, but these both need more work tomorrow.
